1.chief moshood abiola ran for the presidency in 1993 and is widely regarded as the winner of the inconclusive election.

2.in 1994 abiola declared himself the lawful president in the area of Lagos. he was declared wanted and accused of treason and arrested on the orders of general sani abacha who sent  200 police vehicle to arrest him.

3. he was detained for four years largely in confinenance with a bible Quran and fourteen guards as companions.
